Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz. She was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter in honor of her hometown. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's parents are both Jewish. Ryder believes herself to be Jewish. Ryder is also half-sister to Sunyata Jubal. Ryder's younger sister is Uria. Ryder's parents moved her along with her siblings in Mendocino County California when Ryder was seven years old. The family lived in a place without electricity. Ryder became an avid reading book because there was television. Ryder began taking classes in acting at the American Conservatory Theatre when she reached the age of 12. Lucas, a 1986 film, was her first major role. Ryder was only 15 at the time she was cast. Ryder suffered from bullying throughout highschool. She hoped acting might change the situation. Sadly, this didn't occur. It didn't stop her from following her dreams. She got her break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in the year 1988. Ryder continued to play successful parts in a variety of films. Two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
